Our Construction Philosophy

Listed below are a number of items of consideration we feel are paramount when we discuss a project with our clients.  Although we understand that all items below do not necessarily apply to the San Angelo Beehive project, it represents an understanding of the thought process we go through, depending on our various client’s needs.

Architectural Design

A good plan is a must for any project.  Our teams are experts at taking ideas from concept to reality.  The process begins by forming the idea on paper.  Blueprints are the best way to communicate the scope of work and lay the groundwork to make design selections.  It gives the customer a way to see what the final product will look like, as well as provide an excellent means of calculating precise material lists, and thus, a better price based upon actual costs.

Outdoor Living Areas

You live in Texas!  What better way to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather than to turn your back yard into a beautiful outdoor living area.  To begin, how about adding a barbeque grill area complete with sink, refrigerator, gas grill, storage areas, and whatever else you might need.  If you need a pool, we can provide one.  Shade can be provide by building covered patios, awnings, and gazebos, all design specifically for your back yard.

Project Management

Our team has over 25 years of experience in the building business.  Expert oversight is essential to completing a project in the time frame promised and for the price paid.  As is the case with any business, mistakes will occur. It is our policy to make it right, and to handle the problem with the utmost professionalism.  This is the key to delighted customers and thus, referrals.

Permit Processing

It is important to communicate with any city or principality before any work begins.  If required, we will secure permits for any work needing to be performed, and schedule any inspections necessary.  This will help secure the value of your home and give comfort to you, the homeowner, that all work is being performed by licensed contractors and to State  and City codes.

Green Building

Homes built today using green building techniques will save money and resources.  Green building includes the following 5 aspects:

  1. Effective Insulation: Properly installed and inspected insulation in floors, walls, and attics ensures even temperatures throughout the house, reduced energy use, and increased comfort.  Radiant barriers can offer additional help in reducing energy use.
  2. High-Performance Windows: Energy-efficient windows employ advanced technologies, such as protective coatings and improved frames, to help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. These windows also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furnishings.
  3. Tight Construction and Ducts: Sealing holes and cracks in the home’s “envelope” and in heating and cooling duct systems helps reduce drafts, moisture, dust, pollen, and noise. A tightly sealed home improves comfort and indoor air quality while reducing utility and maintenance.
  4. Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment: In addition to using less energy to operate, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems can be quieter, reduce indoor humidity, and improve the overall comfort of the home. When properly installed into a tightly sealed home, this equipment won’t have to work so hard to heat and cool the home.
  5. Efficient Products: ENERGY STAR qualified homes may also be equipped with ENERGY STAR qualified products — lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, and appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines.

Home Theater

Turning a plain room into a real home theater can be a great source of year round enjoyment.  Start the process with a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound pre wire.  You can add a wet bar with wine cooler, refrigerator, and even a popcorn machine.  Our experts can consult with you to select the right components to get the perfect big theater experience in you own home, complete with relaxing couches and theater style chairs.

Carpentry

Whether you’re building a home or remodeling, one of the most important aspects of the process is the frame.  When done correctly, it will streamline the remainder of the project, as well as, conserve costs.  We only use the best materials available.

Concrete

We provide turnkey service for flatwork and foundation repair and replacement.  Our contractors are also trained in patterned concrete and color staining.  If you are building a new home, we will provide an engineered plan for the project to ensure you will have a foundation designed for the soil type it will be placed in.

HVAC

Heating and air conditioning are vital components to any new home or remodel.  We offer upgrade programs to increase the efficiency of existing systems.  New systems can be designed by analyzing and comparing cost versus efficiency, so you can have the system that best meets your needs.  Our consultants can help you make the right decision based on your budget and the energy efficiency you can afford.

Masonry

Whether you want a new home or are replacing the exiting brick on your existing home, our professionals can help.  We offer a wide variety of selections and designs.  Also, if you need help designing retaining walls or adding stone to an existing elevation, there is assistance available.  If you notice cracking in the brick, we can provide repairs, as well as assessing the problem as to whether it is the result of a larger problem requiring structural repairs.

Painting

Whatever the need, we can do it.  Murals, faux finishes, cabinets, walls, trim, doors, exterior trim, fence sealing, and anything else that is painted, or can be painted.  Our consultants can guide you through the selection and design process, so you can visualize precisely what you will have when the job is complete.

Plumbing

Do you need to replace old fixtures, or are you building a new home and need the plumbing system designed from scratch?  We can help.  It is very important to consider what brand fixtures are being used, since not all have the same warranty.  Also, what size fixture will fit where the old one was removed?  How much water pressure do you get at each fixture?  Perhaps the whole plumbing system needs revamping.

Roofing

Texas has some of the worst weather for damaging roofs.  High winds and hail can damage a roof to the point that replacement is the only option.  Before you replace your roof, consider upgrading to a more weather tolerant product.  This can usually lower insurance rates as well as protect your home.  We can also help you with your insurance claim after those violent Texas hail storms.

Windows and Doors

Windows and doors are the most likely location where energy is lost.  If your home is more than15 years old, it is probably allowing a large amount of heat and cold transfer.  We offer a replacement window and door program tailored to your home.  Most applications can occur with little or no evidence that it was even done, except for the beautiful new windows and exterior door now on your home.  Let us show you how we can save you money.

Electrical/Audio/Visual

If you need to add or move an electric fixture, there are not many companies that will do a job this small.  Call us.  We are also great at offering guidance for adding phone, TV, or additional electric wiring for home networking.

Excavation/Grading

Drainage problems can severely affect the stability of a foundation.  Soils in Texas are very expansive.  If moisture in the soil is allowed to change drastically from season to season, foundation damage can occur.  One of our consultants can assess the situation and make recommendations as to how the problem can be resolved.  Usually this can be achieved with a combination of French drains or area drains and minor grade modification.  We can show you the best way to direct the flow of water around your home for the lowest cost to you.
